Hamble Marine Surveys are very pleased to have been chosen to survey a J-Boats - J109. Julian Smith of Hamble Marine Surveys was chosen to survey a J109 based upon his extensive experience with this type of yacht and experience racing on J109's in UK. The survey was complex due to extensive past repairs having been carried out on this vessel following a grounding event 12 months previously. The survey required a detailed assessment of the vessel structure and a thorough inspection of the rig and deck hardware.
Hamble Marine Surveys have just completed a Pre-purchase Condition Survey on a 1989 Oyster 406. Julian Smith of Hamble Marine Surveys is delighted to have been asked by her prospective purchasers to carry out a survey on this vessel in-part due to his experience with Oyster Yachts.
Julian Smith of Hamble Marine Surveys is delighted to finally sign off the extensive refit of a Jeanneau Sun Legend 41 for her new owner. With a complex refit involving manufacturing a new rudder and stock, replacing custom rudder bearings and cutlass bearings and extensive GRP re-modelling, the project at times has been frustrating hampered by bad weather and supply of spare parts. Julian is thrilled for the new owner and his family and wishes them all the very best for the future.
During a recent condition survey on a Jeanneau yacht from the mid 1980's the hull and rudder were inspected as normal. The rudder was found to be of a wooden construction which is normal for vessels made during this period from the Jeanneau yard. The rudder was found to be cracked in way of the rudder stock, which apart from the obvious loss of structural integrity, this breach will have allowed water to ingress.
