Hamble Marine Surveys advising on MCA Code of Practice

Julian Smith of Hamble Marine Surveys is an appointed RYA/MCA Code of Compliance Examiner. With over 10 years experience preparing boats to meet the MCA Code of Practice MGN280, he recently was appointed to act as an advisor to a new Sailing School in Hamble in preparing their yachts to meet the MCA's Code of Practice.

MCA_CodingThe MCA's Code of Practice and specifically MGN280 is a daunting inch thick document published by the MCA to encorportate all requirements and recommendations for a Yacht or Motorboat under 24m in length to meet minimum commercial standards for safe operation. The benefits for the paying public are clear and much of the Code of Practice is common sense, however interpretation and understanding of some of the Code takes experience.
