Concern about an Aluminium Rudder Stock

Hamble Marine Surveys recently assisted a concerned boat owner who discovered that there appeared to be excessive pitting and corrosion about the rudder stock on his Najad. Julian Smith of Hamble Marine Surveys arranged for a full inspection and removal of the rudder to test the tock and blade. The Aluminium rudder stock was heavily pitted around the water line and corroded to the point that the structural integrity of the stock was impaired. It was decided that a new stainless steel rudder stock should be made and this was project managed and all work signed off.
